Breakdown:

  • Ethiopia: The country of origin, globally celebrated as the genetic birthplace of Arabica coffee.

  • Yirgacheffe: The broader, world-famous specialty coffee region within the Gedeo Zone, highly coveted for its complex and expressive cup profiles.

  • Banko Gotiti: The specific village (kebele) and cooperative processing station located in the high-altitude southern district of Gedeb. Coffees from this specific terroir are known to be some of the most explosive and fruity in the country.

  • GrainPro: Indicates the protective packaging used during shipping. GrainPro bags are hermetically sealed, high-barrier inner liners placed inside traditional burlap sacks to lock in moisture levels and protect the raw green coffee from humidity and aging during transit.

Production & Quality Specs

  • FT: Fair Trade certified, indicating the lot complies with fair pricing and social sustainability standards.

  • 3 (Grade 3): The official coffee grade assigned by the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) or export authorities. For naturally processed coffees, Grade 3 represents a high commercial specialty designation that allows a small, standard allowance of physical defects while maintaining great flavor integrity.

  • Natural: The processing method. The coffee cherries are dried whole with the fruit intact on raised African drying beds. This process infuses the bean with intense, punchy sweetness, heavy body, and distinct berry or tropical fruit notes.
